Thank you for coming to my blog. I hope you will consider subscribing for updates and please share your feedback on my posts.
I currently serve as the Director, Client Engagement & vCIO for the New England office of Onepath, a nationwide MSP with offices in New England and the Southeast. Onepath is the “easier way to get hard things done” from “cable to Cloud.” Previously, I was the Chief Technology Officer of Internet & Telephone, LLC (I&T), New England’s premier MSP headquartered in North Andover, Masschusetts with an office and datacenter in both Boston, Massachusetts and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Onepath acquired I&T in May of 2017. Prior to joining I&T, I was the founder and President of Jenaly Technology Group, Inc., an MSP that I started in February of 1997. In December of 2015 Jenaly was acquired by I&T and we merged the two companies together. I have held several technology and management positions with a variety of technology companies, focusing on sales automation, executive information management and electronics distribution and recycling. In the mid-90’s I was the President of Blue Fin Systems, the first dial-up Internet Service Provider in the Seacoast New Hampshire region. That business was acquired by a regional MSP looking to expand into Southern New Hampshire.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire, in Durham, New Hampshire, graduating in 1986. I concentrated in Soviet Studies and studied abroad in the former Soviet Union. I also hold several technical certifications from companies such as Cisco and Microsoft and have completed several other business and technical certificate programs.
I believe in giving back. I am a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity and our motto is “Give Expecting Nothing Thereof.” I try to live that every day and have been very fortunate to be active in both my local community and the global IT community. Locally, I have served on the Board of Directors of the Seacoast Family YMCA, now part of the Granite YMCA and Temple Israel of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I also served as a Director and Board President for Seacoast Crime Stoppers. In the global IT community, I have served on several Advisory Councils, including for The ASCII Group, ConnectWise, Kaseya. I am most proud of my volunteer work with the Computing Technology Industry Association, CompTIA. CompTIA is the global non-profit IT trade association and the largest provider of vendor-neutral technical certifications in the world. I have served as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of both the Audit and Investment Committee and the Certification Advisory Council. I currently serve on the Advisory Council on Policy, Board sub-committee on cybersecurity and as the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors. I had the honor to serve as Board Chair from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, I participated in the formation and testing of the CompTIA Security Trustmark and CompTIA Managed Services Trustmark as well as serving as a CompTIA Ambassador. I have been honored as a member of the Locked in the NOC Hall of Fame for the MSPmentor 250 ranking of the 250 most influential executives in the IT industry. I have also been named to the ChannelPro 20/20 Visionaries list in 2015 and 2016.
I am an accomplished writer having published my first book, Hassle-Free Computer Support, in August of 2006. My latest book, The Tech Multiplier, reached Best Seller status in the technology category on Amazon.com in February of 2013. I also write a technology column for Seacoast Media Group, publisher of Foster’s Daily Democrat, The Portsmouth Herald and seacoastonline.com. I am often interviewed and asked to contribute to both local and national media outlets on the topic of information technology and related matters. I am an accomplished speaker and educator in the technology space. I sit on the Advisory Board of Channel Executive Magazine and have been featured on the covers of ChannelPro magazine in November 2009 and Business Solutions Magazine in June 2012 for feature stories on Cloud Computing. In November of 2016, along with I&T co-founder, Pete Peterson, we were featured on the cover of Business Solutions Magazine for a story about the success of our merger, almost one year down the road. I have also testified before the United States Congress and the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on the topic of information security. Most recently, I testified to a United States Senate Small Business & Entrepreurship Committee Field Hearing looking in to the FCC repeal of Net Neutrality protections.
I am a native of beautiful Swampscott, Massachusetts and relocated to equally beautiful Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1987. In 1988, I married my best friend and the love of my life, Jennifer. She is an accomplished genealogical researcher and maintains her own blog The Scrappy Genealogist and has a successful consulting business, Reconnecting Relatives, LLC. We have three beautiful children, two daughters and a son and two sibling Bichon Frise’s, Blizzard and Sparkles, who we adore. I have a strong passion for technology, as evidenced by this blog and am known as a gadget guy. I enjoy staying in shape, snow and water skiing and home improvement projects. Above all else, I thoroughly enjoy and love my family, both my immediate and extended, which is quite large and diverse.
